  Ingredients

  • 500g ground lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbs fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbs fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 tbs fresh coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Garlic Yoghurt Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbs mint, finely chopped
  • 1 tbs parsley, finely chopped
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • To taste: salt and pepper

  Instructions

Prepare Kofta Mixture

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, grated onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint, coriander, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix well with your hands until everything is evenly combined.

Shape the Kofta

  • Form the mixture into small oval-shaped patties, about the size of a small sausage. Alternatively, shape them into meatballs or flatten slightly for easier grilling.

Cook the Kofta

  • Heat a grill, grill pan, or skillet over medium heat. Lightly brush the kofta with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  • Cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.

Serve

  • Serve hot with garlic yoghurt sauce.
  • Garnish with extra parsley or mint, and offer lemon wedges on the side for an extra citrusy kick.
  • This dish pairs well with Eggplant Bruschetta, see other recipes.

Garlic Yoghurt Sauce

  • Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl until combined well.
  • Can be served immediately or let it chill in the fridge for 30 minutes to overnight to let the flavours meld.
